DescriptionChristchurch Cathedral: Panel No. 3 on the Selwyn Memorial Pulpit. The incident represented is the settling of the Church Constitution in 1857. Bishop Selwyn, with upraised hand, said, "Well then, we understand the Constitution is settled." On Selwyn's left are Bishop Abraham and Archdeacon (later Bishop) Hadfield, and on his right are Sir William Martin (Chief Justice), William Swainson (Attorney General), and another layman.
